THE JOSEPHSON INSTITUTE IS MAKING A MEANINGFUL DIFFERENCE

Here are some of our major accomplishments in 2016:

CHARACTER COUNTS!
— SCHOOL CLIMATE. Developed a comprehensive new structure, training materials and resources to create a Positive School Climate and create a culture of kindness to enhance academic achievement and eliminate violence and bullying.
— STUDENT JOURNALS. Created Way-to-Go Journal student workbooks and a complete revised School Agenda-Student Planner keyed to the Common Core and the Josephson Institute’s, Model Standards for Academic, Social, Emotional and Character Development
— SPORTS. Completely revised the Pursuing Victory With Honor sports training to incorporate the strategies introduced last year in CHARACTER COUNTS! 5.0. and conducted a survey of all constituents to the University of Pennsylvania’s Athletics Department and conducted a workshop for administrators and coaches to develop a “state-of-the-art” values-based program that enhances character and leadership skills.
— FAITH-BASED CHARACTER COUNTS! Developed an integrated Faith-Based CHARACTER COUNTS! for a cadre of fourteen Catholic Schools in Philadelphia (with CITRS, a nonprofit educational organization serving the Northeast).

GOVERNMENT & POLITICS
— Ethics for Legislators. Conducting a mandatory Ethics for Legislators seminar for a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Indiana Legislature (sponsored by the Council of State Governments).
— Presented a Civility in Politics workshop in Iowa (sponsored by Drake University’s Robert D. Ray Center and the Des Moines Register).

LAW ENFORCEMENT
–EXEMPLARY POLICING. Launched the Josephson Institute’s Exemplary Policing Initiative featuring a resource-laden website, newsletter, research, consulting and training to assist the law enforcement community improve policing practices and community relations based on the organizational framework developed in the Institute’s “Creating an Exemplary policing Agency” under a grant from the united States’ Department of Justice, COPS Office.
Research. Conducted a national Survey of Policing Professionals to identify core issues and attitudes in law enforcement (with Golden West College’s Criminal Justice Training Center and Leadership & Ethics Institute)
— ASSESSMENT. Conducted an ASSESSMENT OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE AND PERFORMANCE OF THE FRESNO POLICE DEPARTMENT identifying attitudes and behaviors of sworn and civilian employees.
— Training. Conducting ethics training workshops for the Culver City and University of California at Santa Barbara Police Departments

INTERNATIONAL
-. ROTARY. Delivered Keynote for International Assembly of Rotary introducing JI’s business ethics strategies.
–. In 2016, at the request of the United States State Department, JI:- Introduced CHARACTER COUNTS! strategies in a series of presentations and workshops top educators in SOUTH KOREA at National University, Seoul and other institutions.
— Presented certificated CHARACTER COUNTS! COLOMBIA PURSUING VICTORY WITH HONOR workshops and training in Colombia.
— Other countries. Conducted workshops on JI’s Exemplary Policing strategies to delegations of senior government and policing officials from the Republic of Kyrgyzstan and the State of Palestine and consulted with educators in China, Brazil, Ecuador and South Africa about bringing CHARACTER COUNTS! to these countries.
