I have found this to be true over and over and I have often been pleasantly surprised to learn that the trust that was the foundation of a new relationship or venture often was built by the way I handled disappointing and failed ventures.

Occasional victories and short-lived success can occasionally be achieved through manipulation or deceit but sustainable success requires trust. Trust is a solid foundation for relationships that last. Trust generates loyalty, commitment and engagement. Trust is also a shield. It protects us against against adversity and accusations, slander and suspicion. It generates credibility and affords us the assumption of good faith and the benefit of the doubt.
